Desk of Principal

The Matru Sewa Sangh Institute of Social Work has entered the 53rd year of its meaningful existence. That the Institute has been re-accredited by the UGC-NAAC with ‘A’ grade speaks volumes of the consistent efforts put in by the management, faculty, staff and students with equal vigour and dedication keeping the Institute rock-steady in its path of progress.

Last year the Institute saw with pride cent percent of its post graduate students emerging successfully, many of them with first class, in the 2009 summer examinations conducted by the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. Of the top ten students in the University’s MSW merit list, five, including the first and second rank holders, were from the Institute. Similarly, five of its undergraduates too figured in the University’s BSW merit list. Many of our alumni have done us proud by launching their careers with prominent social development initiatives across the country. During this new academic session too, we at the Institute are eager to welcome many more youngsters from different parts of the country to the portals of this great Institution which is driven by a passion for social development deeply rooted in the legacy of Matru Sewa Sangh.

From the last academic session onwards, the Institute has also added three more field action programmes to its list of activities. Besides Childline, Family Counselling Centre, and Social Work Intervention for Juvenile Justice, the Institute partnered with the Global Fund for Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria and launched the Saksham Project. School Social Work and Community Action for Environment are the other two field action initiatives that got underway during the last academic year.

With the innovations in the Library during this academic session, and internet facilities, the Institute wants to ensure that campus life offers quality time to its students making it more academically productive and enriching. The Institute has also launched academic outreach activities with a view to help post graduates in social work to gain more confidence to crack NET/SET.

On behalf of the Institute I welcome you to this website. Please feel free to get in touch with us for any additional information that you require.  You can talk to me on 0712-2231094.
